THE TWEETING GENERAL IS BACK: Muhoozi Finally Returns to Twitter, Reveals Why He Has Been Off

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s son and Commander of UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has explained why he has been away from micro-blogging site Twitter for many days.

Referred to by some as the tweeting general, Lt Gen Kainerugaba’s silence has been loud, especially given the frequency with which he was previously tweeting and letting his ‘ideas’ and thoughts flow freely on the social media network.

His quietness had been of great concern to his political supporters (those who consider him the right man to replace his father Gen Museveni who has ruled Uganda since 1986), as well as his critics who derived clues on the state of the Muhoozi Project and his views on politics, security and youth issues — the basis of which they beefed up their criticism of the Museveni-Muhoozi succession plot.

Muhoozi, who also advises his father Museveni on special operations, has been off Twitter for about two weeks, last tweeting ‘Abachwezi’ on June 25, and retweeting some of his followers’ posts thereafter. In a nutshell, his social media activity has been minimal in recent days.

So, why has the country’s tweeting general been off Twitter? Muhoozi has explained, first apologizing for having gone silent. The first son also confirmed that he was okay but had a lot of work to do.

“To all my friends and supporters: Sorry, I have been away from the platform for some weeks. I have been busy with work. I have been receiving your messages of love and support. I am very well and I thank you for the love,” explained Muhoozi.

But in recent days, reports had emerged that Museveni had banned on Muhoozi’s tweets on security matters and that other top generals were very concerned about the first son’s tweets. (Read Story Here).
