First son and senior presidential advisor on special operations Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced celebrations after his father and Ugandan president Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni promoted him from the rank of Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) to General (Gen), the highest in the Ugandan national army, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Gen Muhoozi was promoted but ‘fired’ from his role as the Commander of the UPDF Land Forces in changes announced on Tuesday, October 04, 2022. Gen Museveni, the Commander-in-Chief of the country’s armed forces, also elevated Maj Gen Apollo Kayanja Muhanga to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Commander of the UPDF Land Forces, replacing Muhanga.
The highlight of today’s changes is Muhoozi’s promotion to the rank of general at the age of 48.
Muhoozi has announced that a celebration will take place in Kampala to toast to the milestone and to many more big things ahead.
“We are going to have a celebration down Kampala Road for this rank. I thank my father for this great honor!” wrote Muhoozi.
The year 2022 has been full of celebrations for Muhoozi, the most pronounced of them being his 48th birthday parties across the country. Muhoozi’s birthday celebrations were crowned with a state dinner hosted by his father Museveni in his (son’s) honor. Read Story Here).
Hours before his promotion, Muhoozi had revealed that he and his generation would take over from his father’s old generation in 2026. (Read Story Here).
