First son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has commended his father President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni for appointing another ‘tested revolutionary’ Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi to replace Gen Elly Tumwine as security minister.
On June 08, Museveni named his new cabinet, replacing Gen Tumwine with reelected Rujumbura MP Muhwezi.
Muhwezi is bouncing back to cabinet, having previously served in other ministerial portfolios such as information minister.
His stint at the health ministry was dogged by scandals, including one involving GAVI funds.
Now, Kainerugaba, the senior presidential advisor on special security operations, has commended his father on security minister appointment.
He believes it is vital to keep ‘tested revolutionaries’ of the 1980-86 bush war in key security dockets because of their experience and skill.
“I thank our Commander in Chief, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, for keeping the Ministry of Security in the hands of tried and tested revolutionaries,” wrote the first son, also the commandant of the elite SFC in charge of his father’s security.
“Those of us who saw these Generals as young men in 1986 cannot forget how great they were.Congratulations Gen Elly Tumwine and Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi.
