Tension is high in the camps of speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah after NRM chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni summoned Central Executive Committee (CEC) members for a final decision on the speaker race of the 11th Parliament.
Both Kadaga and Oulanyah have expressed interest in the top job in the legislative arm of government.
Weeks ago, Museveni suspended speaker and deputy speaker race after meeting Kadaga, Oulanyah and deputy speaker aspirants at State House Entebbe.
Until the suspension, Kadaga had attacked Oulanyah, punching holes in his competence and commitment to the job.
Oulanyah had hit back at Kadaga, and expressed confidence in NRM CEC to make the right decision
NRM CEC is expected to discuss a previous CEC’s decision that saw Oulanyah step down for Kadaga in the speaker race for her to complete a decade at the helm.
Now, several sources within CEC say Museveni is expected to meet members of the ruling party’s top organ this Saturday, May 01.
The meeting is expected to happen either at the National Leadership Institute (Nali) Kyankwanzi on the sidelines of the retreat for new MPs and NRM-leaning independents, or at State House Entebbe.
