Isaac Sempala’s house in Buziga might be temporarily away from the hands of his wife, Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi, and former Makerere University vice chancellor Prof Venansius Baryamureeba, but it could change hands with just a judge’s stroke of a pen in a court order or ruling.
On March 12, Nabilah had moved to evict her husband Sempala from their home in Buziga to recover Prof Baryamureeba’s Shs800m.
Nabilah had secured help of police officers who drove four pickups to Buziga’s Katuso Close to evict Sempala.
She was riding on a court order Makindye Chief Magistrates’ Court Grade One Magistrate Lorna Tukundane had issued to Sempala to stay away from the Buziga house.
The property Nabilah and Baryamureeba are eyeing is comprised in LVR 4004 Folio 8 Kyadondo Block 273 Plot 5 Katuso Close at Buziga in Kampala.
But while Nabilah was close to evicting the father of her four children, another court order saved Sempala.
On March 12, deputy High Court registrar Flavia Nabakooza issued an exparte interim order “restraining the respondents [Baryamureeba and Nabilah], their servants, agents and persons claiming under them from entering the suit land, evicting the applicant [Isaac Sempala Sebagala] or his agents, selling the suit land, transferring the same into their names or from doing any act on the suit land injurious to the rights of the applicant.”
This order expires today, March 17 at 2:30pm.
It is expected that court will rule on Sempala’s application blocking Baryamureeba and Nabilah from taking over the house.
