Tears in Museveni’s Camp as ‘YKM Team Thorough’ National Coordinator Dies

Eng Idiri Kamuntu, the National Coordinator of the Yoweri Kaguta Museveni – YKM – Team Thorough, has passed on, throwing the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and its leader Museveni in mourning and tears.

Available reports indicate that Eng Kamuntu died at about 1am on Thursday, June 02, at Mulago National Referral Hospital. The top Museveni mobilizer had been rushed to Mulago in critical condition on June 01.

Kamuntu reportedly lost the battle to diabetes, a condition that worsened in recent months. He had been treated at clinics, including one in Kyaliwajjala, Mutungo and at Kibuli Hospital.

The YKM Team Thorough national coordinator was the National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) Registrar for Koboko District. Born in Kanungu District’s Kihihi, Kamuntu held a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Kyambogo University and another one in Telecommunication Engineering from China.

By the time of his death, Eng Kamuntu was pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Makerere University. Aged 38, the Museveni mobilizer is survived by a wife and four children.
