Workmates and family members were thrown into grief after Raymond Steven Sekitayira collapsed at his workplace and was pronounced dead hours later, just days before his fiancée Joy introduced him to her parents.
Joy Nekesa was due to introduce Sekitayira on October 31, but he collapsed on October 28, was rushed to International Hospital Kampala (IHK) where he breathed his last.
The cause of his death remains shrouded in controversy with Covid19 and a blood clot, being alluded to.
Several friends and rotarians have been mourning Sekitayira.
“I can’t wrap my head around this. Dude! Raymond Sekitayira just like that. As in how? Noooo!!! Not like this. This really hurts deeply. Many beautiful years of friendship, lots of hugs and laughter. You first introduced me to the Nateete Rotaract family and they became my own too,” wrote a one Sandra Akello.
“Joy Nekesa love… I can’t fathom what you are going through but am sending huge cyber hugs. May God comfort you. This is too much… Especially with a new life in a few days to begin. My friend… Not like this… But well, God’s plans are not our own. Rest in peace Ray, will miss you lots.”
His former classmate Ian Oswald wrote: “I have been denial since I got the news of your sudden death Arch. Raymond Sekitayira. I refused to believe it whilst trying to take in the shock. Death is shameless! In Architecture school and after, we had a brother, a friend & family in you. May you Rest In Peace, and I pray for God to strengthen your family and friends.”
In a statement, Rotaract Club of Nateete Kampala said: “With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of RAYMOND STEVEN Sekitayira, a Past President, Treasurer, SAA and many other hats wore while at the Rotaract club of Nateete Kampala. His impact will forever be felt among us. Heartfelt condolences go out to Friends and Family.”
