Odrek Disciples, a youth group supporting first son-in-law Odrek Rwabwogo’s alleged presidential ambitions, has warned former presidential press secretary and senior advisor on media Affairs Joseph Tamale Mirundi to stop defaming their ‘role model.’

Rwabwogo, a senior presidential advisor to his father-in-law President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, has denied having any presidential ambitions.

But Odrek Disciples have continued demanding that the debate on a peaceful transition be opened up within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The youth group has gone as far as petitioning NRM secretary general Richard Todwong and national vice chairman Moses Kigongo to ensure that debate on succession from Museveni to a potential leader like Rwabwogo, their preferred choice.

Now, they have warned Mirundi to “cease and desist from defaming our role model.”

In a warning dated November 02, Odrek Disciples say they are tired of Mirundi’s attacks as reportedly carried in his media interviews and want him to stop.

“Sir, it has come to our attention that you have always been found of making and spreading false allegations and misleading statements on our role model Mr Odrek M Rwabwogo. These statements constitute slander and aspersions since they defame our role model,” said the Odrek Disciples in their warning letter written by Musa Rwamigoye, their general secretary.

“Consequently, we demand that you immediately cease and eschew from making any and all false slanderous and calumnies statements of all kinds.”

They also advised him to carefully choose his words, failure of which they will deal with him according to the laws of Uganda.

“We warn and caution you while hosted on media houses/ agencies be careful and use clear words to drive your points home. Diction is always important in communication. Your abusive video clips have been trending all over social media platforms since it seems you enjoy being vulgar with impunity,” further wrote Rwamigoye.

“Please be advised that unless you immediately stop making these slanderous allegations. We have a role to protect our national interest and our leaders from false accusations, blackmail and character assassination. We hope you will change behaviors.”
