Striker Alexander Isak, Emil Forsberg and Robin Quaison scored as Sweden humiliated Kosovo 3-0 in their Group B World Cup qualifier match.
First, in the 29th minute of the game, VAR ruled that Florent Hadergjonaj handled the ball. A penalty was awarded to Sweden.
Forsberg converted the penalty into a goal through the bottom right corner.
In the 57th minute, Kosovo’s Vedat Muriqi sought to balance the equation but his goal was cancelled as an offside.
After the one-hour mark into the game, Isak scored what analysts are touting as a world-class goal. The 22-year-old had dribbled and shot into the net, albeit unsuccessfully.
The resultant corner was what made the difference. Isak got the ball on his left and curled it into the top right corner.
In the 79th minute, Quaison, who had come through as a substitute, scored the third goal.
The win put the Swedish team at number two in the group. The Swedes have 12 points. Group leader Spain has 13 points. Kosovo has four points and is placed fourth in the group.
In the first of their three remaining games, Greece and Sweden will clash in Stockholm on Tuesday.
