Suspected Killers: Ssegirinya, Ssewanyana Held Meetings in Ndeeba Kampala to plan Bijambiya Killings

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga has claimed that suspected killers who participated in the Greater Masaka Area murders have confessed that National Unity Platform (NUP) MPs Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West and Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kawempe North held meetings in the Kampala suburb of Ndeeba to plan murders.

Last week, Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID) summoned MPs Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya for interrogation over their alleged involvement in Masaka killings.

The summons came days after information minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi claimed politicians were behind the killings that have claimed almost 30 lives in the Greater Masaka Area.

NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was infuriated at the summons.

Now, Enanga has told reporters in Kampala that no amount of political propaganda from Bobi Wine, NUP and others would stop operations in Masaka as well as investigations to get to the root of the matter.

“There is usually a lot of propaganda because of forces trying to counter each other and parties trying to promote propaganda. What we go by is evidence on file,” said Enanga.

He also claimed suspects had pointed to Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana as chairing meetings in Ndeeba, which meetings planned the Masaka attacks.

“The suspects indicated to us how they were promised wealth and this was under the command of the two politicians. We are going to record statements from the two MPs who are behind the murders,” he claimed.

“The statements from suspects indicate that in a meeting at Ndeeba, they were recruited and all was done under the command of the two politicians. The promise of money and wealth is also another motivating factor.”

Enanga went on to reveal that detectives would “look at all evidence including analysis of [the MPs’] phones to see whether they were at the scene.”
