Surrender or We’ll Kill You: Museveni Sends Clear Warning to ADF, Islamic State Terrorists

President Museveni used his November 20 night address to send a warning to ADF and Islamic State terrorists, clearly telling them to surrender or die.

In the address, which came days after the November 16 twin bombings in Kampala, Museveni said that the terrorists still have a chance to surrender and face prosecution for their crimes or wait and be killed by the army.

“My advice to these terrorists is to surrender themselves. In the meantime, the public should remain vigilant,” said Museveni.

“I want to assure Ugandans that they shouldn’t be frightened. We defeated ADF in 2007, but we didn’t have the capacity we have right now. Just continue with your wealth creation activities. We shall deal with these people.”

The president further argued that the UPDF was now stronger and would deal the ADF a huge blow.

He further reiterated that investigations into the attempted assassination of works and transport minister Gen Edward Katumba Wamala had offered important clues used in the dismantling of terror cells.

“The UPDF that defeated the ADF in 2007 is now many times stronger than it was then,” he said.

“The attempt to kill Gen. Katumba Wamala landed them [UPDF] in our traps.”

Museveni added: “This is not a military conflict. It is more of an intelligence-led campaign. We just need to find out who and where. These terrorists’ weapon is hiding and spreading panic. Our task now is to find out where they are hiding, and the public can help us with this.”

He also hinted on talks between Kampala and Kinshasa on how to flush the terrorists out of DR Congo.
