First son and Commander of Land Forces (CLF) Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has advised Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels and terrorists to surrender or to be taught a lesson by the UPDF and FARDC forces.
UPDF and FARDC troops recently launched attacks against ADF camps in the DR Congo.
The Ugandan national army and its allies in the DR Congo launched artillery and air strikes against the rebel and terrorist outfit based in the mineral-rich but volatile eastern Congo.
The attacks followed bomb attacks in Kampala. The attacks were blamed on ADF, a Ugandan rebel group that has since morphed into the Central African branch of the Islamic State (IS).
Some rebels have been reported to have sought amnesty.
Now, CLF Lt Gen Kainerugaba has encouraged more rebels and terrorists to surrender or die.
‘To ADF combatants. You have seen what we (the joint UPDF/FARDC forces) are capable of. Operation Shujaa will continue until your terrorism ends,” wrote the first son.
“Many of your ‘leaders’ have already fled the bush and abandoned you to your fate. Surrender now before it’s too late. The joint forces will receive you and give you a second chance.”
