A source that Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao claimed had told him that President Yoweri Museveni and his fiercest challenger held secret talks has finally spoken out.
When Mao claimed that Besigye had held secret talks with Museveni, the DP boss listed his sources as veteran journalists Conrad Nkutu (son to former Obote government minister Shaban Nkutu) and Andrew Mwenda.
But the DP president confessed that he did not have concrete evidence beyond his sources and hearsay. (Read Story Here).
Now, Nkutu has spoken out on the claims that he told Mao Besigye had held secret talks with Museveni.
The former Monitor boss has made it clear that Mao could just be mistaken.
“My friend Norbert Mao is mistaken and he couldn’t have been misinformed by me, Andrew or the President. Fact: Andrew Mwenda and I engaged each Principal,” said Nkutu.
“President Museveni and Kizza Besigye never met andnever spoke on phone during that three-month engagement in 2011.”
