A State House official has responded to reports of a looming Covid19 lockdown in the wake of a spike in new daily cases.
In the past one week, Uganda has registered a rise in Covid19 cases, with daily records crossing the 1,000 mark.
As we reported earlier, experts on Uganda’s Covid19 Taskforce have advised President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to delay full reopening by two weeks.
In a short statement, a State House official has reacted to the reports of a looming lockdown.
According to President Museveni’s Deputy Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda, Ugandans should wait for the official communication from the head of state.
“The General Public’s festive spirit should not be dampened by speculation that another Covid19 lockdown is in the offing due to the surge in cases,” said Kirunda in a tweet signed off by his initials.
“Kindly, ignore the rumours and await an informed address by H.E the President. Thank you!”
