State House Clears Air on New List of Presidential Advisors as Ex-Press Secretary Lindah Nabusayi Falls in Things

State House Uganda has spoken out on reports that President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has released a list of newly appointed presidential advisors. Reports suggested that Gen Museveni used the appointments to wipe former minister Hajji Abdul Nadduli’s tears and to keep his brother Gen Salim Saleh and his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba in ‘things.’

The reports indicated that Museveni had appointed Nadduli the senior presidential advisor on political mobilization; maintained Gen Kainerugaba as senior presidential advisor on special operations  and Gen Saleh as the senior presidential advisor on Defence; former housing minister Sam Engola as senior presidential advisor on Lango affairs and Prof Sheikh Mohamed Ahmed Kisuule as the senior presidential advisor on the Middle East.

Circulating widely on social media, the reports also claimed that former minister Ephraim Kamuntu will advise Museveni on constitutional affairs; former minister Mary Busingye Karooro Okurut on the media; while NRM Office of the National Chairman boss Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye will keep her role as the senior presidential advisor on political affairs.

The list also included former works and transport minister Monica Azuba Ntenge as the senior presidential advisor on works; former Vice President Specioza Wandira Kazibwe as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Population; Dr Ezra Suruma as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Finance and  Economic Planning; Chris Rwakasisi as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties; former trade minister Amelia Kyambadde as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Industry; and Prof Edward Rugumayo as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs; Hajji Abbey Walusimbi as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs; former CID Director Elizabeth Kuteesa as the Presidential Advisor on Police matters and ex-education minister Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Education Matters.

Kakooza Mutale appears on the list as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs;  Florence Mutyabule as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Poverty Alleviation in Busoga Region; former Energy Ministry Permanent Secretary Fred Kabagambe Kaliisa as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Oil, Gas and  Minerals; and former Principal Private Secretary Mary Amajo as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Public Service.

STATE HOUSE SPEAKS OUT

But State House, through deputy presidential press secretary Faruk Kirunda, has clarified that Museveni did not release any new list of presidential advisors, junior or senior. Kirunda also confirmed the appointment of former presidential press secretary Lindah Nabusayi Wamboka as a presidential advisor on media affairs.

Lindah Nabusayi and her successor, senior presidential press secretary Sandor Walusimbi

“I wish to clarify that there is no new list of Presidential Advisors issued as is circulating on social media. The only new appointment is of Ms. Linda Nabusayi Wamboka, who has been appointed Presidential Advisor on Media,” said Kirunda.

“The list circulating on social media is of persons already serving as Presidential Advisors.”

It should be remembered that Museveni relieved Lindah Nabusayi as presidential press secretary, replacing him with Sandor Walusimbi. (Read Story Here).
