Masaka High Court judge Lawrence Tweyanze has denied bail applications filed by Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana and his Kawempe North counterpart Muhammad Ssegirinya.
Justice Tweyanze agreed with the prosecution’s argument that if released, Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana would interfere with investigations into their case.
The judge also concurred with the state that Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana were likely to skip court if released on bail.
The two NUP MPs face a raft of charges, including murder, attempted murder and terrorism related to the recent spate of killings in Masaka Area.
Ssegirinya also faces charges of inciting violence, related to a social media post.
