The war of words between first so Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and former army commander Maj Gen (Rtd) Gregg Mugisha Muntu is not about to end after the latter punched holes in the former’s understanding of the English language as well as his sobriety.
On May 12, Lt Gen Kainerugaba replied to Maj Gen Muntu’s advice that the first son should use the same insight he applied to prevent war between Uganda and Rwanda to ask his father Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to retire him from the army so that he can pursue his presidential ambitions.
Kainerugaba, who is also the Commander of UPDF Land Forces, told Muntu, a 2021 presidential candidate, that he and his father did not need his insight. The first son suggested that the former army commander uses his insight to save his ‘small collapsing political party.’
“General Greg, first of all, habari ya siku mingi sana? I hope you are well? Secondly, me, my father and practically everybody else in UPDF does not require your ‘Insight’ into anything. Please keep it for yourself and your small collapsing political party,” wrote Muhoozi.
In response, the Alliance for National Transformation leader told Museveni’s son to sober up, comprehend his advice and use correct English.
“I’m well thanks. I’m sure you are. I think if you were to soberly reread my initial remarks, you will find that I referred to your “insight”, not mine. Also, it is “do not need” not does not need. I wasn’t under the impression that my opinion was “required”. I gave it anyway,” replied Muntu.
Meanwhile, the first son says his father Museveni made a big mistake to appoint Muntu as army commander and keep in this position for about nine years yet there were more capable officers like Col Jet Tumwebaze. Muhoozi says Muntu should have gone to the seminary or joined the church choir instead of being in the army where he was a ‘sober non-performer.’ (Read Story Here).
