A letter fabricated by suspected Buganda Kingdom loyalists opposed to prime minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has surfaced online a day after Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s subjects learnt of their king’s sickness.
On April 13, Kabaka Mutebi appeared for his 66th birthday celebration looking frail and sick.
The king had spent months without being seen in public.
He had even missed the Masaza Football Cup final.
Now, a day after the kabaka’s poor health condition became public, a letter purportedly written by the Kabaka informing the kingdom that he had fired Katikkiro Mayiga surfaced online.
The letter further claims the Kabaka would announce Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga’s replacement on April 19, 2021.
Pearl Times News can authoritatively confirm that the letter is fake, and was not issued by the Kabaka as alleged.
The Kabaka is yet to fire the Katikkiro as the fake letter claimed.
Earlier on April 14, members of the royal family issued a statement confirming the kabaka was unwell but responding to medication.
