In February 2022, Oulanyah was rushed to Seattle for treatment. (Read Story Here).
On March 20, President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni announced that Speaker Oulanyah has died. (Read Story Here).
Now, during a vigil at Oulanyah’s home on March 20, health minister Aceng explained why government chose to rush the speaker to Seattle, and not anywhere else in the world.
“The treatment or technology that we wanted is available in three hospitals in the whole world: one in Germany, another in France, but the technology started in Seattle,” said Aceng.
The minister further revealed that when Oulanyah was flown to the US in February 2022, he was “quite ill” and needed to be stabilized first before the actual treatment could be administered using the technology.
But the doctors “did not succeed” in stabilizing the speaker.
“He [Speaker Oulanyah] passed on before he got the actual treatment,” said Aceng.
“All this time they [doctors] were trying to stabilize him.”
