Former NTV Uganda presenter Sheilah Gashumba has told President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to stop telling Ugandans his 1986 stories and showcase his achievements.
In power since 1986 when he took power after a five-year bush war, Museveni is seeking to extend his rule to four decades.
Gashumba has asked Museveni to be mindful of the bazukkulu (grandchildren) born after he took power.
“President Museveni, you claim to want to Secure Our Future, but all we seem to hear about is 1986 before we were born. First tell us what you have been up to for the past 35 years before we can consider five more,” wrote Gashumba.
Hours later, the 76-year-old Museveni responded, directing the muzukulu to a link showing his National Resistance Movement (NRM) government’s achievements.
“Sheilah Gashumba, my muzukulu, I am glad you are taking interest in the affairs of our nation. Nation building is not a sprint but rather a marathon and we invite you to join this journey. Please find our achievements here https://yowerikmuseveni.com/achievements.”
