“Further reference is made to the communication between the Hon. Minister for Education & Sports in her press release dated 16th August 2021, in which she emphasized vaccination of teachers, all support staff working in schools and learners above the age of 18 years, against Covid19,” said Director Namuddu.

“In view of the above, the Directorate of Education & Social Services – KCCA working with the Directorate of Public Health & Environment (DPHE) and the Directorate of Administration & Human Resource (DAHR), have made arrangements to have teachers and support staff in education institutions in Kampala schools (both public & private) vaccinated at the following schools, earmarked as vaccination centres.”

Namuddu went ahead to reveal the dates, timelines and the what is required of those coming for vaccination at the centres.

“The guidance from DPHE is that these schools will be vaccination centres for Teachers and support staff who are getting the first dose of the vaccine. Those who are due for the second dose should go to the Health Centres in the City. You [heads of education institutions] are requested to mobilise teachers and support staff in your respective schools, to be vaccinated at the above centres as guided. Please note that the exercise will start on Wednesday, 25th August 2021 to Saturday, 28th August 2021, as Phase 1,” read the KCCA notice.

“Should there be a need, the vaccination will continue/resume on Monday, 30th August 2021, the following week. Vaccination shall be on first come first serve basis and coupons will be availed to this effect.  In addition, the DAHR is going to avail counsellors, 1 per school (vaccination centre) to provide support to any teacher who may require such services.
