SALARY INCREMENT: Museveni Delivers Good News to Prosecutors

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has assured prosecutors that their salaries will first be enhanced before more recruitment is undertaken.

Speaking during the 5th Joan Kagezi Lecture in Kampala on April 26, Museveni said the salaries of prosecutors will be enhanced in a phased manner and then more people will be hired into the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

“I also reiterated the government’s commitment to the Judiciary regarding salaries. We shall create a timeline to handle salaries, we can not recruit 500 more Prosecutors without dealing with the salaries of the 300 we have. We shall sort that,” said Museveni.

“I think there is some contradiction in what you are saying. You are now 300 something – you are understaffed, you want to be 800. For me as a bush fighter, I would say, let’s first pay these 300 well. Yes, they will be overworked but somebody with a full stomach can work harder.”

Meanwhile, Museveni revealed that he knows Joan Kagezi killers and where they are hiding. (Read Story Here).
