SAD! Tears as 19 People Confirmed Dead in Lake Victoria Plane Crash

Precision Air has confirmed the number of fatalities and survivors following the crash landing of one of their planes into Lake Victoria on Sunday, November 06, 2022, morning. A public listed Tanzanian airline which provides scheduled flight services to over 17 destinations, Precision Air announced the fatalities and survivors in its Public Notice Number Four which was issued on Sunday. 

The company said 39 passengers, including 38 adults and one infant were on board on the plane that had four crew members. Of these 19 have been confirmed dead while 24 have survived, some with serious injuries.

“Precision Air regrets to confirm that 19 fatalities and 24 survivors have now been reported by the emergency services at the scene of the accident involving flight PW-494 which crashed at Lake Victoria in Bukoba today,” the company announced.

“The aircraft, SH-PWF, ATR42-500, was flying from Dar es Salaam to Bukoba when the accident occurred at around 08:53 local time. There were 39 passengers (38 Adults and 1 Infant) and 4 crew on board the flight. Precision Air extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the passenger and crew involved in this tragic accident. The company will strive to provide them with information and whatever assistance they will require in this difficult time.”

Precision Air was yet to release the names of those who have perished and those who have survived. The company explained its decision.

“The names of passengers and crew on board the aircraft will not be released until all next-of-kin have been notified. Relatives and friends of those who may have been on board are requested to call the special line 0786-300415/0789-266600 or visit our information centers at Blue Saphire Hotel at Dar es Salaam or ELCT Hotel in Bukoba,” its statement further read.
