A night fire that broke out at a school in Kampala’s Rubaga Division has claimed the life of one pupil.
Dormitories for at least two classes, Primary Six and Seven at the school, were burnt in the night fire at Good Times Infant School in Kawaala.
Parents thronged the school early Tuesday morning after learning of reports of the fire.
Leaders, including Kampala Capital City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, also visited the scene.
Police say they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
But preliminary findings indicate that the fire broke out a few minutes after midnight.
The most affected dormitories were in the Olupot B Block where learners in Primary Four, Five, Six and Seven reside.
While other pupils successfully escaped to safety, a one Matthew Amanya, aged 11 and in Primary Six, was deep in his sleep and was burnt to death.
