SAD NEWS: Tears as 11 Ugandan Students are Burnt to Death in School Fire

A school fire in Uganda has claimed the lives of 11 students, police has confirmed this Tuesday, October 25, 2022 morning, hours after the incident happened. 

The fire broke out at around 1 am on Tuesday, killing 11 students and leaving six others with life-threatening wounds. The injured are receiving treatment for their injuries and wounds in hospital. It is not yet very clear how many students were in the dormitory when the fire broke out.

According to Uganda Police Force, the fire outbreak happened at SALAMA School for the Blind, which is located in Luga Village , Ntanzi Parish, Ntejeru in Kisoga Town Council in Mukono District. Police say they are yet to establish what caused the early morning fire. Those critically injured are being treated at Herona Hospital in Kisoga.

“The Police at Mukono are investigating a fire outbreak that took place today at about 1am at SALAMA School for the Blind in Luga Village , Ntanzi parish , Ntejeru Kisoga town council in Mukono district,” said Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Luke Owoyesigyire in a short statement.

“The cause of the fire is currently unknown but so far 11 deaths as a result of the fire have been confirmed while six are in critical conditions and admitted at Herona Hospital in Kisoga.”
