Outgoing Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi has confirmed Commander-in-chief of Uganda’s armed forces Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni will soon sack him.
On June 08, President Museveni appointed Gen Muhoozi junior (state) internal affairs minister, replacing Obiga Kania.
He will serve under Kahinda Otafiire, one of Museveni’s longest serving ministers and former bush war comrades.
On June 18, CDF Muhoozi appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting.
After the vetting, he told reporters Gen Museveni would soon show him the exit door as CDF.
“I cannot be a minister and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) at the same it. We are waiting for the Commander in Chief to appoint another CDF,” he said.
“I am not going to retire from the army but I am not going to be CDF; a replacement will be named so that I move on. The appointing authority will name someone soon so that your worries and agitation are answered.”
One of Gen Muhoozi’s key assignments is the digitization of vehicles to allow easy tracking in case these, especially bodabodas, are used in criminal activities like assassinations.
