Roger Mugisha Quits Juicy Sanyu FM Job

A little over four years since he returned to the radio station that ushered him into Uganda’s media industry, Roger Mugisha has left his job at Sanyu FM, according to reports.

Beginning his radio journey at Sanyu FM in the 1990s, Roger Mugisha has decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry. He returned to Sanyu FM years ago as Programs Director.

But reports now indicate that Roger Mugisha has quit his job as Sanyu FM’s Programs Director. Reasons for his decision to quit were not so clear but there were hints of irreconcilable differences with those who own and run the station, according to reports.

A notice attributed to Sanyu FM station manager Pamela Adongo indicated that Roger Mugisha had indeed left the station at which he cut his teeth into the media.

“We extend our gratitude to Roger for his valuable contributions to our team and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said Adongo in the said statement.

“Let’s continue to work together with focus and dedication to become the most influential media broadcaster in Uganda.”

Roger Mugisha reportedly left by mutual consent and senior managers had been tasked to share the roles that he has been executing for the media house, reports further indicated.

A short statement attributed to Roger Mugisha read: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for making Sanyu FM happen. 28 yours in radio is a sailors dream.”

ROGER MUGISHA PROFILE

“Roger Mugisha cut his radio ribbon on Sanyu FM 27 years ago as a love doctor and is now back to his roots in a new capacity as the head of programming. In addition to his professional training as a radio programmer, sales and talent coach, Roger is also a film producer and actor. A family man and respected player in the media industry in Uganda,” reads Roger Mugisha’s profile on the Sanyu FM website.

“Roger believes that radio should provide the most inspirational content, entertainment, and customer value while strengthening the cultural life of the communities we serve. An associate member of the Chartered Institute of marketing, Commonwealth Broadcasters Association, and also a member of the Uganda Marketers Society, UMS. Roger believes in nurturing young talent in creating a positive generation cultural transformation.”

For his education, Roger Mugisha – formerly associated with Shadow Angels – went to St Mary’s College, Kisubi for his O and A levels before going to Makerere University to do his degree in Mass Communication. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Moor Hall Cookham and Common Wealth Broadcasters Association.

His awards and experience include Best Radio Breakfast show for 2013 and 2014, Best Film producer at the 2012 AMAA film Awards (Nigeria), Best Film 2013 at the UCC Film festival, Best Male Actor at the Uganda Entertainment Awards 2017, and Best Male actor PAFA 2017.

It was not clear where Roger Mugisha was headed next. But a number of journalists and presenters have been leaving Ugandan media houses for juicier jobs. The latest was an NTV journalist who recently landed a juicy UN job. (See Details Here).
