National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has left Uganda, sparking claims that he could be planning self-imposed exile or to seek help for his Plan B to oust longtime leader President Yoweri Museveni.

Bobi Wine lost the January 14 presidential election to Museveni.

Museveni polled 58 per cent of the over 10 million votes while Bobi Wine managed 35 per cent.

The singer-turned-politician ran to the Supreme Court challenging Museveni’s victory but later withdrew his presidential election petition due to alleged bias on the side of judges.

After withdrawing his petition, Bobi Wine called on the ‘public court’ to engage in peaceful protests.

But the demos seem to have failed to take off.

Now, Bobi Wine has decided to leave Uganda to meet fellow opposition politicians outside the country.

According to NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, Bobi Wine will be out of Uganda for four days.

“While away, he will meet several leaders and fellow strugglists on the African continent in furtherance of our struggle for freedom and democracy,” revealed Ssenyonyi.

That means Bobi Wine is expected back in the country next week.
