Raila Odinga Wife Idah’s Bodyguard Shot Dead

A bodyguard to Idah Odinga, wife to Kenyan opposition leader Raila Amollo Odinga, has been shot dead.

The bodyguard who has been identified as Barack Onyango Oduor was reportedly shot dead at about 3:30am on Friday in Kisumu.

The shooting is said to have happened at Riat in Kisumu West Sub County.

Preliminary findings indicate that Oduor was returning from Dondez Bar & Restaurant where he had spent hours with friends.

By the time the shooting happening, Oduor is said to have been with two of his friends, a female and a male.

But as the trio left the hangout, reports indicate, a dispute whose cause is yet to ascertained erupted.

The killer, most likely the manager of Dondez Bar and Restaurant, reportedly confronted Oduor, disarmed him and shot him dead.

Oduor was shot two times, with bullets ringing through his leg and head.

Oduor died at the scene of the crime and his remains were taken to a local mortuary, according to reports.

A male friend to the now deceased bodyguard also sustained injuries during the shooting.

This friend of Oduor was driven to the Aga Khan Hospital where he is being treated and was said to be out of danger.

Police is now following clues to ascertain the motive behind the murder of the bodyguard to Odinga’s wife.

The man believed to have killed Oduor is said to have run away from the scene of crime with the killer gun.

Raila Odinga lost his fifth bid to become Kenya’s president in August 2022. He also lost his legal battle in the Supreme Court. (Read Stories Here and There).
