A former Ugandan MP has perished in a road accident. The former MP was travelling with others in a Toyota Noah car which overturned near Olwio on the road to Nebbi on the morning of Saturday, July 08, 2023.
Former Erute North Constituency MP of the 10th Parliament, Angiro Gutomoi Abac Acon, and three others died on spot.
Gutomoi was the Awitong or Clan Head of Onywal Ipyeda Clan.
Deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa paid tribute to Gutomoi for pushing for rural development, better education and health.
“Very sad to learn of the death of Hon Angiro Gutomoi Abac Acon, who died in a motor accident this morning near Olwio on the road to Nebbi. I am told they were travelling in a Noah, which overturned, and four people died on the spot. Gutomoi was the Awitong (Clan Head ) of Onywal Ipyeda Clan. He was also the former MP for Erute North Consituency in the 10th Parliament,” said Tayebwa.
“In the August House, Hon. Gutomoi was known for his passion on issues of education, health, and rural development, among others. My condolences go out to the families of the victims of this fatal accident.”
