Ministers Mary Busingye Karooro Okurut, and Elioda Tumwesigye have lost ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries in Bushenyi, Koboko and Sheema, respectively, provisional results show.
In Bushenyi, Annet Katusiime Mugisha, wife to National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) managing director Dr Silver Mugisha, was in a comfortable lead against Karooro, the minister of general duties in the office of the prime minister.
In Sheema Municipality, former Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) commissioner Dicksons Kateshumbwa and his supporters were already celebrating victory against Tumwesigye, the minister for science, technology and innovation in the Sheema Municipality election.
Junior finance minister in charge of investment and privatization Evelyn Anite was in a tight race with her opponent Charles Ayume in the Koboko Municipality race.
