Where’s Museveni’s heart? Besigye says IGG designate Beti Kamya haunted by 2008 letter stinging President

Opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has paraded a 2018 article exposing how now Inspector General of Government (IGG) designate Beti Olive Namisango Kamya once suggested President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni was a thief who reportedly favoured the Bahima.

On July 15, President Museveni appointed Kamya, the former lands, housing and urban development minister, as the new IGG.

Kamya, once a member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Uganda Federal Alliance (UFA) parties, will replace Irene Mulyagonja who now sits on the Court of Appeal bench.

But some Ugandans have expressed skeptism on Kamya’s integrity and competence to head the inspectorate of government, especially given her political flipflopping. (See: ‘Museveni has appointed Beti Kamya to destroy IGG office’).

Now, Besigye had shared an article the Daily Monitor published in 2008 in which Kamya used unkind words to describe the corruption, theft, tribalism and nepotism in Museveni’s government.

Besigye says the article, titled ‘Where’s Museveni’s heart?’ will always gnaw at Kamya’s heart.

The four-time presidential candidate has now challenged the new IGG to use her office to compel Museveni to vomit the money she claimed the president stole.

“The article that’ll keep haunting Hon. Beti Kamya – “Where is Museveni’s Heart?” (Daily Monitor of 28.01.2008),” noted Besigye.

“May be that’s where she should start as IGG; recover Uganda’s stolen wealth from her appointing authority.”
