A leaked cabinet list suggests Outgoing Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda could be appointed ruling NRM secretary general (SG), with Kasule Lumumba and former government chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa favorites to replace him.
Published by Daily Monitor, the list indicates Rugunda could be sent to the NRM secretariat.
Appointed prime minister to replace Amama Mbabazi in 2014, Rugunda may join several senior ministers exiting cabinet.
Lumumba, who succeeded Mbabazi as NRM SG in 2014, could be headed for the top cabinet job – and so is Nankabirwa.
Museveni is expected to choose between the two and make an announcement soon.
