A day after he threatened serious confrontation against US Ambassador to Uganda William Popp, Ugandan first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has deleted the posts.
In the posts, Gen Muhoozi had accused Ambassador William Popp of disrespecting President Yoweri Museveni, who is also Gen Muhoozi’s father and boss, as well as of undermining the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
Muhoozi had also issued an ultimatum to the US Ambassador to apologize to President Museveni or prepare to leave Uganda by 9AM on Monday next week.
It was not readily clear what Ambassador William Popp had done that irked Gen Muhoozi. His father Museveni was yet to come out to broach the matter.
Now, as he has previously done for many controversial posts, Gen Muhoozi has deleted the posts threatening serious confrontation against Ambassador Popp, The Pearl Times has confirmed.
It was not clear whether pressure had increased or decreased against Muhoozi, his father and their government before the first son and army chief took the decision to delete his posts on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.
Meanwhile, reacting to Gen Muhoozi threats to Ambassador William Popp, veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has said he does not blame Muhoozi for his behaviour – but rather faults Ugandans. (See why Here and read of Muhoozi’s deleted posts There).
