President Yoweri Museveni has released a video of an indoor workout challenge with his grandchildren (bazukulu) to silence those doubting his stamina and health ahead of the 2021 elections.

This is the second indoor exercise video Museveni is publishing online to encourage Ugandans to work out in order to keep healthy.

In April, the 75-year-old who has ruled Uganda since 1986 released a video in which he did 30 press ups inside State House as a way of showing people it was possible to exercise indoors.

Then, Uganda was under a total lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid19 but the president has since relaxed restrictions.

In the latest video, Museveni challenged his grandchildren to 40 press ups, 10 more than he did almost four months ago.

“After work last night, I challenged my Bazukulu to an indoor work-out. We did Forty Push-ups,” revealed Museveni as he shared the work video that is one minute and 30 seconds long.

“Just like I have always advised, even at your own home, you can stay safe, and remain fit and healthy.”

In recent months, some of Museveni’s critics have claimed Museveni’s health and stamina are deteriorating, and that he could be unfit to rule Uganda for another five years.

But Museveni workout videos and weight loss diet have served to bolster his supporters’ efforts to silence critics as the 2021 presidential election heats up.

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) recently nominated Museveni, in power for almost 35 years now, as its 2021 flag bearer.

Meanwhile, main opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is still trying to convince Dr Kizza Kizza Besigye, Museveni’s fiercest challenger for almost two decades, to make his fifth attempt at the presidency.

A recent opinion poll by Research World International (RWI) has predicted Museveni would beat a joint opposition presidential candidate.

But Besigye’s camp has rubbished the poll as biased.
