The novelist, aged 33, left behind a tough message for a judge who refused to release his passport. (Read that message here).
Hours after reports of Rukirabashaija’s fleeing through Rwanda, Lt Gen Kainerugaba, also the Commander Land Forces and senior presidential advisor on special operations, talked with President Kagame.
Kagame told Kainerugaba that as far as he was aware, Rukirabashaija was not in Rwanda.
“I have just been speaking to President Paul Kagame and he says he is not in Rwanda!”
But the novelist shared a photo reportedly taken in the Rwandan capital of Kigali.
