Kitgum District MP Lillian Aber has urged Ugandans to pray for Jacob Oulanyah, the Speaker of the 11th Parliament, instead of complaining about the money used to charter a plane to fly him to the US for specialized treatment.
Last week, Speaker Oulanyah was rushed to the US for treatment after his situation deteriorated. (Read Story Here).
It later emerged that government paid Shs1.7bn to Uganda Airlines to fly Oulanyah and those taking care of him to the US.
The revelation sparked criticism from Ugandans who said the figure was too much, and should have been used to improve healthcare systems in the country or been spent other things.
But MP Aber says there is no need for complaining about the amount since there is nothing more important than money.
The MP also argued that it was better to use the money to fly the Omoro County legislator for treatment instead of the same amount or more being spent on his burial.
She says Ugandans, regardless of their political affiliations, should pray for their leader Oulanyah.
“We can only be human to wish Jacob good health and treatment,” said Aber.
“We shouldn’t allow emotions take over; he is our leader, despite our political or social differences. Let humanity reign, friends.”
Meanwhile, deputy speaker Anita Annet Among has finally spoken out on the health condition of Oulanyah, her boss. (Read Story Here).
