Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged all religious leaders to hold special prayers for the king, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

The Kabaka will be celebrating his 68th birthday on April 13. In recent years, the Kabaka’s health has been a matter of concern to the Kingdom and the king’s subjects, with Mutebi flying abroad for medical checkups and treatment on some occassions.

According to Katikkiro Mayiga, it is prudent for believers of different faiths to hold special prayers to thank God for the life of the king and to ask the Lord to grant him more years of good health.

The special prayers will be held on different dates for different religious groups. Muslims will hold special prayers on Friday, April 07; Seventh Day Adventist Church members on Saturday, April 08, and the rest of the Christian groups like Catholics, Anglican protestants, Orthodox Christians and Balokole on Easter Sunday (April 09).

“His Majesty the King of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, will turn 68 on April 13. We thank God for the life he has given our king. In the same breath, we ask the different places of worship to organize prayers for our king,” said Mayiga.

“On Friday, April 07, during Juma prayers, Muslims should hold special Duwa prayers for the Kabaka; Seventh Day Adventists on April 08; other Christian groups on April 09, 2023, on Easter Sunday.”

The Buganda Prime Minister’s original statement was in Luganda and it read: “Ssaabasajja Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, agenda kuweza emyaka 68 omwezi guno nga 13. Twebaza Katonda olw’obulamu bw’awadde Kabaka waffe. Mu kkowe eryo, Tusaba amasinzizo ag’enjawulo okutegeka okusabira Baffe. In the past three years, the health of the Kabaka has been worrying to his subjects. Katikkiro Mayiga previously revealed that the king was suffering from allergies. (See Details Here and There).
