Court in Busia on December 10 remanded D/ASP Patrick Javuru of the Crime Intelligence Unit and Cpl Chelogoi of the Flying Squad Unit over the murder of Pte Ivan Kakai who until November 15 was Busia Municipality MP Geoffrey Macho of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Police slapped charges of murder of Kakai on Chelogoi and Javuru.
Charles Mansio Twiine, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Crime Intelligence (CID) at the Uganda Police Force, says the security agency “regrets this unfortunate incident.”
Twine assured the public of police’s “commitment to the dispensation of timely justice with utmost impartiality.”
“Our thoughts and condolences go to the family of the deceased, the UPDF fraternity and the General public,” Twiine said.
Prosecution alleges that on November 15, while at Sophia A, Eastern Ward, Busia Municipality in Busia District, Javuru and Chelogoi, with malice aforethought, caused the death of Kakai.
Busia court remanded Javuru and Chelogoi until January 07, 2021.
