Police asks president to Promote Cheptegei

Police Advisory committee have recommended 10000m world record long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

This was revealed by Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga while addressing the media on the state of security in the country on Monday as stated on Police social media handle.

‘’CP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, addressing the media on the general security situation in the country.’’ The statement reads

 Cheptegei who has been at the rank of Inspector of Police (IP) will be promoted by the president of the Republic of Uganda after accepting the promotion.

‘’Notably, the Police Advisory Committee has recommended IP Cheptegei Joshua who broke four (4) World Records in long distance running competitions, for promotion to his next rank of ASP.’’ Statements reads

President Museveni has been instrumental in rising Cheptegei fame since surprise collapse during world cross-country at Kololo in Kampala in 2017.

Fresh from breaking the 10, 000m world record in Valencia, Cheptegei, this month also made a first attempt at the World Half Marathon Championship race in Poland, which was won by compatriot Jacob Kiplimo. On his debut, Cheptegei finished in fourth position
