Ugandan first son and President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s senior advisor on special operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has asked newly elected Kenyan leader Dr William Samoei Ruto to forgive him.
Last week, Gen Muhoozi, while at the rank of lieutenant general and still the commander of the UPDF Land Forces, sent out a string of tweets that left Kenyans seething with anger at the Ugandan first son who is aged just 48.
In one of the tweets, Gen Muhoozi claimed that his army has the capacity to capture the Kenyan capital Nairobi within two weeks.
Kenyans reacted by criticizing Muhoozi for being a careless tweeting general and compared the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces – UPDF (the Ugandan national army) with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), debating on which army would easily overrun which country.
Following the controversial tweets, Gen Museveni met his son and the duo agreed on new changes. What followed was the firing of Muhoozi as the Commander of Land Forces.
But the first son was promoted from the rank of Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) to that of a full General, the highest in the Ugandan Army.
Operation Shujaa Commander Apollo Muhanga Kayanja was promoted from the rank of Major General (Maj Gen) to that of Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) and handed the position of Commander Land Forces. Gen Museveni has since appointed another senior UPDF officer to replace Muhanga as Operation Shujaa Commander. (Read Details Here).
Meanwhile, as a concerned father, Gen Museveni has since apologized to Kenyans and President Ruto over his son Muhoozi’s mistakes. (Read Story Here).
Now, days after Museveni’s apology, Muhoozi has asked President Ruto to forgive him.
The first son said he had no problem with Ruto.
“I have never had any problem with Afande Ruto,” wrote the tweeting general.
“If I made a mistake anywhere, I ask him to forgive me as his young brother. God bless East Africa!”
Meanwhile, Muhoozi has revealed his next plan after officially handing over office and after he was decorated as a full UPDF general. (See Details Here).
