Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) and education minister, also first lady, Janet Museveni, are expected to release the 2020-2021 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) today.
Uneb officials, including Chairperson Prof Mary Okwakol, and executive secretary Dan Odongo met Minister Ms Museveni at State House, Nakasero, on July 14.
A total of 749,761 candidates – 395,856 (53 per cent) females and 353,957 (47 per cent) males – from 14,300 examination centres registered for PLE in 2020.
Majority of these, 513,091 (68 per cent) were under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) program.
According to Uneb principal public relations officer Jennifer Kalule Musamba, parents can use their mobile phones to access results.
“Candidates, parents and other interested parties may use the Short Message Services (SMS) on mobile networks which will post the results the results of candidates on their mobile sets instantly,” explained Kalule Musamba.
“This will be done by typing PLEFull Index Number of the Candidate, e.g. 003301/368 and send to 6600 on all mobile telecom networks.”
On physical access of the results in hard copies, Uneb has advised schools to wait.
“For school administrations, results will be uploaded on the examination centre portals to enable schools download the results as they are officially released,” noted Uneb’s publicist Kalule Musamba.
“No hard copies of the results will be available at the Uneb offices for now, until a later date when the conditions permit. When that time comes, Uneb will officially inform the District, Municipal and City Inspectors of Schools to collect the hard copies of the results from Uneb offices.”
