Impostors are fleecing school headteachers and directors to help them change their grades ahead of the release of 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results, assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has revealed.
Up to 749,347 candidates sat for PLE in 2023. This number included 391,558 female pupils and 357,789 males.
Uneb is expected to release 2023 PLE results soon to help candidates prepare to join secondary school. A selection exercise precedes the reporting of Senior One students.
Uneb also says that impostors have been trying to convince school bosses that they can remove them from the list of schools whose results have been withheld over examination malpractice.
“It has come to the attention of the Board that there are some impostors coning Head teachers and School Directors of money, allegedly to either help them improve the grades of their candidates, or remove their schools from the list of those suspected of examination malpractice,” Uneb executive secretary Dan Odongo said.
“UNEB hereby cautions Heads of Examination Centres, school directors and the public against involvement with such fraudsters.”
