Paul Lokech Died in Bathroom: Fresh Details Emerge on Deputy IGP’s Sudden Death

Fresh details on the death of deputy Police chief DIGP Maj Gen Paul Lokech, with the army revealing he died in his bathroom.

Maj Gen Lokech suddenly died months into his job as the second most important officer of the Uganda Police Force (UPF).

The UPDF and police confirmed the death of Lokech on August 21.

According to UPDF spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso, Lokech died in his bathroom in Buwate, Kira Division in Wakiso District.

The cause of his death is yet to be established.

Speaking from Buziga, Kampala at the funeral service of fallen UPDF soldier Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa, Byekwaso further revealed that Lokech had been working from home in the previous two weeks.

He had also fallen down and was nursing a fracture by the time of his death.

That the general wasn’t feeling so unwell but he suddenly complained of breathing complications.

“This morning, he entered the bathroom, and he called his wife complaining that he couldn’t breathe,” Byekwaso said.

That Lokech’s wife had contacted doctors to come to the deputy police chief’s rescue.

Byekwaso further explained that attempts to resuscitate Lokech were futile.

He would later die in the bathroom.

“A medical person was there and from what was observed such as loss of breath, it was suspected that the General could have suffered a blood clot,” added Byekwaso.
