Pastor Bujjingo & Suzan Makula Survive Being Sent to Prison

House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo and Suzan Makula Nantaba, his employee at Salt Media, are not going to prison any time soon.

This after Entebbe Chief Magistrate Juliet Nakitende threw out perennial litigant Hassan Male Mabirizi’s application in which he had asked that the pastor’s and his ‘friend’s’ bail be cancelled.

Bujjingo and Makula faces charges of bigamy contrary to provisions of the Marriage Act and the Penal Code Act.

On January 21, Entebbe Court granted bail to Pastor Bujjingo and Makula, leaving Mabirizi angry. (Read story here).

Mabirizi had come to court ready to oppose Bujjingo’s bail application. Ahead of the session, he had explained why the pastor should go to jail. (Read story here).

On January 24, Mabirizi petitioned Nakitende to overturn Grade One Magistrate Stella Paculal Okwong’s granting Bujjingo bail.

Now, Nakitende has written back to Mabirizi informing him his prayer has not been granted.

“The decisions made thereafter were not irregular or illegal and thus does not warrant the Chief Magistrate to invoke its supervisory powers under Section 221 of the Magistrates Courts Act,” wrote Nakitende on January 25.

“Therefore, the request to cancel bail granted to Pastor Bugingo is not granted.”

Mabirizi has vowed not to rest until Bujjingo has been sent to jail. He has revealed he will take the matter to the High Court.
