House of Prayer Ministries (HPM) lead pastor Aloysius Bujjingo says National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine rushed to run for president before he could even learnt the responsibilities of a legislator.
Bobi Wine joined parliament through a by-election in 2017.
Three years later, he challenged incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
The singer-turned-politician lost the election to the 76-year-old former rebel leader who has ruled the impoverished east African nation since 1986.
Now, Bujjingo says youths should learn from Bobi Wine’s mistake and fight off the temptation to rush into making decisions before gaining the required experience.
“Youths in Uganda have a problem: whenever one learns that there are storied buildings, one just wants to build one there and then,” Pastor Bujjingo told his congregation at Canaan Land, Kikoni, during a recent lunch hour service.
“One has not even sat in Parliament and learnt to be an MP, one has not done anything tangible as an MP, the that same person announces he wants to be president.”
