OULANYAH DEATH RUMORS: Deputy Speaker Anita Among Rushes to the US

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has flown to the US to check on her boss Jacob Oulanyah amidst death rumors.

According to Chris Obore, the director of communication and public affairs at Parliament, Among has travelled to the US.

Obore also revealed the objective of Among’s travel.

“I can confirm that the Deputy Speaker has travelled to the US to see the Speaker. To check on his status and brief him on how the House is performing while he is away,” said Parliament’s spokesperson.

Oulanyah was rushed to the US in February 2022. (Read Story Here).

Among has been presiding over parliamentary sittings since then.

On March 15, she adjourned the House sine die after presiding over a session in which ministers laid before Parliament, ministerial policy statements and budget estimates for financial year 2022/2023.

Ministerial policy statements set out the performance and plans of spending agencies, linking them with their policy objectives.

Among referred the ministerial policy statements to the relevant committees which will scrutinise them.

She then adjourned the House sine die, reportedly, to allow for the process of scrutiny of the statements.

Her travel comes amidst the latest rumors of Oulanyah’s death. (Read Story Here).
