OULANYAH BURIAL: Late Speaker to be Laid to Rest Near Late Wife & Mum; His Father’s Speech Removed from Program

Jacob Oulanyah L’Okori, the late former speaker of the 11th Parliament, will be laid to rest today in Lalogi, Omoro District, at a burial ceremony that will end weeks of mourning, and the earthly journey of a man who was the country’s third most important in government hierarchy. 

Speaker Oulanyah died on March 20. (Read Story Here).

Oulanyah’s body was returned on April 01 amidst tears at the Entebbe International Airport. (Read Story Here).

The former speaker’s body was taken to his home in Muyenga, Kampala, on April 03. (Read Story Here).

On Tuesday, the body was brought to parliament where MPs paid tribute to Oulanyah.

The MPs also agreed on an annual Jacob Oulanyah Memorial Day. (Read Story Here).

On April 06, Oulanyah’s body was taken to Kololo Independence Grounds for a national funeral service.

At Kololo, family members allowed MPs to view Oulanyah’s body. (Read Story Here).

On April 07, regional local government councils convened a special sitting to pay tribute to Oulanyah.

According to the burial program, Oulanyah will be laid to rest today, April 08.

Oulanyah’s body will be buried next to his late wife Dorothy Nangwale’s resting place and his deceased mum’s.

It has also emerged that Oulanyah’s father Nathan Okori will not speak about his son during the burial ceremony, according to a draft program.

However, this program is subject to amendments.
