Besigye: Bobi Wine has completed his most impactful year in Uganda’s politics

Opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye has congratulated National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine on his 39th birthday, describing the previous year as one of the singer-turned-politician’s most challenging yet impactful.

Towards the end of his 38th year, Bobi Wine took on President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni in a two-horse contest.

He won majority of the votes in his home Buganda region, performed fairly in neighboring Busoga but trailed the incumbent in other regions.

The Supreme Court is set to rule on his petition challenging the presidential election results on March 18.

Now, as Bobi Wine celebrates another year, Besigye has joined hundreds to praise the Kyadondo East MP.

“Everyday that anyone confronting the criminal NRM/M7 Junta ends deserves a celebration,” wrote Besigye.

“Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, has quite likely ended one of the most challenging years of his life. It’s also a year that he’s been quite impactful on Uganda’s politics. It’s therefore fitting to join Hon Kyagulanyi in celebrating his birthday today.”
