NRM SG Kasule Lumumba in quarantine after aides tested Covid19 positive

Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba has gone into self-quarantine after her staff tested positive for Covid19.

With Uganda currently In the heat of election campaigns. Lumumba said self-isolation and the Covid19 cases were ‘a minor setback’ and “a bit of interruption.”

“Dear all its with sadness that I report this minor setback and hope and pray that it blows over fast and we get back on track. There will be bit of interruption in my personal schedule but all will be good soon,” she said November 30 night.

In a short statement, Lumumba explained her decision to self-quarantine.

“This is to inform the leadership and fraternity of the National Resistance Movement and the country at large, that three of my handlers with whom I work yesterday [November 29] tested positive for Covid19,” she wrote.

“I have therefore taken advice from our scientists to immediately enter into self-isolation as a precautionary measure, while I wait for results of the rapid test I have had to take.”

The NRM leader further noted that “all the campaign mobilization and coordination activities at the National Resistance Movement Secretariat will continue normally.”

As of November 30, Uganda’s cumulative Covid19 case toll stood at 20,459. The country has recorded 205 deaths and 8,989 recoveries.
